Wykota Ranch is a Sportsman's Paradise, it has a little bit, if not a lot, of something for everyone who loves the outdoors! It is a part of me, it is me, which in turn is part of everyone in my family...
I owe everything to my parents for bringing me into this world and for giving me the freedom to become the person I am today. Without there unconditional love, understanding, and guidance this would have never been able to happen. I thank them for always believing in me and my dream, there sacrifice was like no other. They believed in me from day 1 when I took my 1st breath, my battle of life was then set in motion, literally!! But the love of the outdoors I owe to my Grandfather and my father. (Charles H. Wendell. & Charles D. Wendell 1st) but mostly to my dad. Not only were they great inspirations to me, they were my idols, and they were my heroes!
Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of hunting or fishing with my Grandfather, but he gave me my 1st baseball glove....which gave me the love of something else, Baseball. I turned that love and the love of the outdoors into Wykota Ranch!
My dad showed me the ropes of the outdoors and taught me just about everything I know about it. The best lesson of all was to love it, and respect it! Before I was able to hunt myself he let me me and my brother tag along with him. My brother and I screwed around more then anything, no wonder my dad never shot a deer when we were with him! There is no better time then spending time outdoors with family and friends, the bond will last a lifetime!
All the work that goes into the ranch is not only dedicated to my Grandparents, Parents, my children, my brother, my 4 sisters, and all there children, but to my 2nd family in Iowa A.K.A."God's Country" as well.....the Nelson's. They have been a blessing in my life, there unconditional love and understanding is second to none.
Life is what you make of it, its not about what happens to you in your journey, but how you react to it.
When the day comes when I am gone from this earth, there will now be something left behind for my family and friends to enjoy as much I did....when visiting Wykota Ranch they can capture my spirit as well as those who have passed before us....
Long live the great outdoors, enjoy every sunrise, cherish every sunset, for it may just be your last.....
To my dad and grandparents.....
Rest in peace...I miss you all and Love you very much.......thanks for everything......
